Full AABCAP Membership with PACFA (Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia) Member Association Membership* requires you, as a practising psychotherapists or counsellors eligible to list on the PACFA Clinical Register, to comply with PACFA standards and update CPD and Supervision requirements via the PACFA portal annually .

*PACFA Member Association Membership is not the same as an individual membership of PACFA, but attracts many of the same benefits, such as being eligible to list on the PACFA Register. Please see the PACFA website for details.

Full Member of AABCAP with PACFA members are required to log CPD and Supervision hours in the PACFA portal annually. PACFA conducts random audits of members every three years, this requires proof of CPD attendances and signed declaration of supervision hours based on client hours that meet PACFA standards at the time of audit.  For more details about the portal please contact PACFA directly.

At the initial registration with PACFA (this requires a one-off administration fee), you will tick that you are going to be a member of a member association. In this process, you do not pay individual membership, instead your annual PACFA membership fee is included in your AABCAP membership fee. For this to take place, you need to obtain and provide a copy of your PACFA registration in  your AABCAP membership application.

3. Affiliate Membership is for those non-clinical professionals with an interest in AABCAP events and activities.
4. Student Membership is for students who provide evidence of being enrolled in an approved helping profession course. Student members undertaking clinical work must ensure that they are insured via their training institution or personal indemnity insurance. AABCAP Professional Training Course students automatically receive student membership for the duration of the course.

Please note: While you do not need to be a Buddhist to join, we do encourage members to develop a regular mindfulness and meditation practice, and that members attain at least 10 Professional Development (CPD) hours in Buddhist based Psychotherapy educational events. We also require all members to uphold our Code of Conduct.
