There are 4 membership categories for AABCAP.
1. Full AABCAP Membership
2. Full AABCAP Membership (with PACFA Member Association Membership)
3. Affiliate Membership
4. Student Membership
These categories and their requirements are explained below.
1. Full AABCAP Membership - full AABCAP members meet the clinical, educational and professional development requirements of their individual profession. They are eligible to be a member of their professional association and do not wish to register as a clinical member with PACFA.
2. Full AABCAP Membership (with PACFA (Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia) - Member Association Membership) - are members who are practising psychotherapists or counsellors, and who are eligible to list on the PACFA Clinical Register, who comply with PACFA standards and update CPD and Supervision requirements via the PACFA portal annually.

NB Member of a PACFA Member Association is not the same as an individual membership of PACFA, but attracts many of the same benefits. Please see the PACFA website for details.

As a Full Member of AABCAP with PACFA:
PACFA Members are required to log CPD and Supervision hours in the PACFA portal annually. PACFA conducts random audits of members every 3 years, this requires proof of CPD attendances and signed declaration of supervision hours based on client hours that meet PACFA standards at the time of audit.  For more details about the portal please contact PACFA directly.
At the initial registration with PACFA (this requires a one-off administration fee), you will tick that you are going to be a member of a member association. In this process, you do not pay individual membership, instead your annual PACFA membership fee is included in your AABCAP membership fee. For this to take place, you need to obtain and provide a copy of your PACFA registration to AABCAP along with your membership application.
Members who belong to PACFA Member Associations are able to list on the PACFA Register and to access other membership benefits as detailed on the PACFA Memberships benefits page.
3. Affiliate Membership - applies to those non-clinical professionals with an interest in AABCAP events
4. Student Membership - applies to any students enrolled in an approved helping profession course. Evidence of student enrolment is required. Student members undertaking clinical work must ensure that they are insured via their training institution or personal indemnity insurance. AABCAP Professional Training Course students automatically receive student membership for the duration of the course.

All documentation will remain securely stored as per AABCAP’s privacy policy.
